What is a disagreement / conflict?
A disagreement occurs when two or more people have differing opinions, perspectives, or interests on a particular issue. It can arise in various contexts, such as personal relationships, home, workplaces, or public debates. Disagreements can be constructive, leading to new ideas and solutions, or they can be destructive, causing division and tension.
Frequent causes of conflict at University:
- Disagreements between housemates over boundaries and distribution of chores.
- Unequal contribution to group work; perceived or otherwise.
- Differing values and beliefs about matters that are important to us, such as political ideology.
- Disagreements with tutors, lecturers or supervisors.
- Differing priorities over resources, such as funding or lab space.
