The University of St Andrews will be closed from 5pm on Wednesday 24th December 2025 and will re-open on Monday 5th January 2026. During this time Report + Support is available and whilst you are encouraged to use the service, please be aware that staff will be unable to respond until they return to work. If you are in need of an emergency response please call 999 . The Security and Response Team are available 24/7 on 01334 468999. If outside of the UK, please call the emergency service in your locality.   

If you are concerned that a child or vulnerable adult is being harmed or neglected, you can help in the following ways: 

  • Listen. Taking the time to listen and talk about what has happened can help.  
  • Signpost options. Ask them if they’re okay to talk through some possible options for support or how they might disclose what has happened. Do not take on the role of a counsellor or therapist. 
  • Make a disclosure on their behalf. If you feel able to, you can make a disclosure on behalf of a child or vulnerable adult who may not be able to do this for themselves.  
  • Look after your own wellbeing. Check in with yourself after the conversation and access the help or support you need. Life Span have produced a guide on practising self-care that may be useful.
